selecting boxes and totes selecting boxes and totes:

I originally had all my Field Day gear either piled up loosely or packed in a variety of unlabeled cardboard
boxes. This made packing up for Field Day pretty chaotic, and there were a lot of loose items to move around.
It's also difficult to tell what's in a cardboard box, or to find an item you know is in a box somewhere.

Some time ago I started converting countless cardboard boxes on shelves in the basement into clear plastic boxes
and totes. This was to improve organization, sort and group similar items for faster finding, clear totes for
easier identification of contents, and also to provide a little bit of water/humidity/insect protection. Then
I realized these same clear totes would work well for Field Day. They let me group similar things together into
a smaller number of larger containers, they're more durable, transparent so I can spot what's inside, and they
also stack well in the truck. It also makes loading and unloading faster, both at home and at the events.

My solar equipment also got put into clear plastic totes, although those are smaller. Most of the Field Day
equipment is in four large (54 quart?) gasket-totes. So I have a mix of different boxes and totes. I'd like
to be consistent with the boxes and totes I use, but manufacturers discontinue lines and make new ones and I'm
forced to change it up occasionally. This is annoying when the new ones don't stack well with the old ones.
So I'd suggest ordering more than you need right now so that you have spares to expand into later that will
have the same lids and continue to stack well.
